ABRAHAM TIEN-SHEN HUANG
It is with great sorrow that we announce that Silver Spring resident Abraham Tien-Shen Huang, 90, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and admired friend to many, passed away and entered eternal peace surrounded by his family on April 3, 2015. Mr. Huang was born on May 1, 1924 in Amoy-Fujian, China. In December 1955, he married the love of his life, Cecilia Jia Ping Huang, in Taiwan. They moved to the US in 1969 with their three children. Mr. Huang leaves his loving memory to be cherished by his devoted wife, Cecilia, and their three adoring children, Edmund Huang, Bibiana Huang Matheis and Dona Huang; daughter-in-law Lolita Fisher Huang; sons-in-law Frank Matheis and Jerry Huang. He adored his grandchildren, Maya Matheis, Monica Huang, Nicholas Huang, Sarah Huang, and Alexander Huang. His great grandchild, Lilea Huang, who he adored and overjoyed him. Mr. Huang was widely respected Chinese-American citizen and a master artistic Chinese calligrapher. He was admired for his many skills and passions as a prolific writer, newspaper columnist and poet. His articles and poetry was published in newspapers and periodicals all over the Chinese speaking world, including the US and Canada. His book of poetry was received with high acclaim and readers worldwide looked forward to his witty and incisive newspaper columns. Mr. Huang’s calligraphy writing earned him wide reaching admiration. Both fellow writers and calligraphers praised his vast, scholarly knowledge of the Chinese language and his aesthetic brushwork. Relatives and friends may call at Collins Funeral Home, 500 University Boulevard West, Silver Spring, MD, on Wednesday, April 8 from 10 to 11 a.m., where Funeral Service will follow at 11 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
