On Sunday, March 30, 2014 of Kensington, MD. Beloved husband of Mary McGregor Fisher for 34 years; father of Patrick (fiancé Leah Legere) and James Fisher; brother of Gordon, John, Tom, and Paul Fisher; son of the late James and Kathleen Fisher; son-in-law of Mary Grace and the late William J. McGregor; also survived by many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close family friends. He passed away after a long and hard fought battle with lung cancer. A native of Silver Spring, MD, Peter graduated from St. John’s College High School in Washington, D.C. After graduation he attended The University of Notre Dame completing studies in Civil Engineering, before obtaining his Master’s Degree from George Washington University. He then entered the working world at Bechtel Corp. and ultimately ended up as the Supervisor of Construction for the Catholic Diocese of Arlington, VA; a position that he has held for 28 years. Peter loved and was devoted to his work for the church until his death. He took pride in knowing that his work played an important role in bringing others into the Catholic faith community. Among the things most important to Peter was a strong family life and he leaves behind those who he loved most with cherished memories of the time spent together and the values of faith and family. On Saturday, March 29, 2014, of Takoma Park, MD was born in Washington D.C. at Georgetown University Hospital to the late William S. and Edna Francis Rau. Brother of the late Richard A. Rau. Also survived locally by Maureen Smith (Douglas) Breitenbach, Ronald E. Smith, Stephen Richey and numerous relatives. He was a 1942 Central High School graduate, served in World War II in the 87th Infantry Division and spent 36 years with Bell Systems in D.C. until his retirement in 1978. He was a member of Telecom Pioneers, Boy Scouts of America, Knights of Columbus, Life member of the Rosensteel Council,2169, World War II Memorial Charter Member and a member of the 87th Infantry Division Association. Mr. Rau was an avid movie enthusiast and former bowler. Jocelyn Anna Sweet (Moore)

Jocelyn Anna Sweet (Moore) died April 2, 2014, at age 31, after a hard-fought battle with bone cancer. Jocelyn was a graduate of Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, Maryland, and received her B.A. with honors from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, where she was a member of the volleyball team and president of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.

 Jocelyn refused to be defined by illness, and joyfully embraced the present. In the years since her diagnosis, she earned a J.D. from American University and became a health insurance specialist at the Department of Health and Human Services, a position that allowed her to focus her considerable talent and energy on making sure others had access to health care.

 She is survived by her loving parents, Laurie Kaslove and David Moore, and her adoring husband, Brian Sweet. The eldest of the ‘Moore Girls,’ she will be forever missed by her sisters, Megan and Hannah, and her brother-in-law Isaac Hammond-Paul. She was the beloved daughter-in-law of Nancy and Bob Sweet, sister-in-law to Laurie Sorto (Sweet), and devoted aunt to her nephew and nieces. A true animal lover, Jocelyn was the proud puppy parent to her two rescues, Rocco and Buddy.

 All those who knew Jocelyn will remember her generosity, exuberance, fierce determination, and bold intellect.

 A private funeral will be held for immediate family. A public celebration of her life will take place in the coming weeks. Details will be posted shortly on the website of the Collins Funeral Home. Donations in memory of Jocelyn can be made to the Mattie Miracle Cancer Foundation, an organization dedicated to finding better treatments for and building awareness of pediatric cancer.

RAYMOND J. GUAY

Ray passed away April 7, 2014, devoted husband of the late Regina Hurley Guay. Born April 12, 1921 in Fall River, MA, son of Thomas and Elise. After graduating from Msgr. Prevost High School in Fall River in 1939, Ray served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1942 to 1945 as an artillery sergeant. He graduated from Catholic University in 1951 with a degree in physics.

Ray started his post-war career as a project engineer with the Naval Ordinance Laboratory developing underwater ordinance guidance systems and later becoming a Deputy Director with the office responsible for the Subroc, Polaris and Trident guided missile programs. He retired in 1981 from the Navy’s Strategic Systems Project Office.

A member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Ray served on the boards of Garrett Park Pool and Swim Team, Izaak Walton League, and Sea Colony in Bethany Beach, DE. Also an active member in the Knights of Columbus, Rock Creek Council, helped senior citizens prepare their tax returns, and a constant volunteer for a variety of community groups.

Survivors include Thomas A. Guay, Margaret M. Sullivan, Maryrita E. Dunlavey, Moira K. Abernethy, Regina A. Gretschel, Patricia C. Berry and J. Gary Guay. Also survived by 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
